BEV
Underground Mining
Lithium-ion thermal runaway extinguishing.
Engineered infrastructure for the electrification of underground mining.
In the confined environment of an underground mine, a BEV thermal runaway event can generate extreme heat, dense smoke and hazardous gases while evacuation routes, ventilation and firefighter access are severely constrained.
The consequences extend beyond the vehicle itself—the incident can threaten personnel, critical infrastructure, mine ventilation and continued operations.
RML AU’s engineered solution creates a dedicated BEV fire suppression chamber positioned in conjunction with the mine’s refuge strategy.
The objective is to isolate the hazard, control the energy release and protect people underground when conventional firefighting options are at their most limited.
