RML AU’s compressed air foam solution is designed to address the two critical elements of lithium-ion battery fire events: flaming combustion and thermal runaway propagation. Environmentally compliant foam is discharged as compressed air foam, providing rapid flame knockdown while delivering sustained cooling to battery cells and modules. This cooling effect helps reduce heat transfer to adjacent cells and can limit the propagation of thermal runaway.
Because compressed air foam uses water more efficiently than conventional water-based suppression, RML AU systems can achieve effective suppression with substantially lower water demand. In enclosed applications such as BESS cabinets, this can reduce required water volumes by approximately 75–85%, potentially lowering water storage, pumping, drainage and associated infrastructure requirements.
